The trend with today’s food seems to be healthy. Which is a good thing. From what I’ve been reading obesity levels are at all time highs and we can thank all of the junk food for that. Not to mention, junk food is only a quick time fix loaded with lots of salts, sugars, and carbs. An Acai bowl has tons of sugar — but it’s good sugar. Natural sugar. From the berries to the protein and to the added nuts. And this recipe calls for Greek yogurt.

This bowl has all of it’s perks and it’ll fill you up fast and stay full for a long time. Therefore, you won’t have to eat as much during the day or fill up with those non-nutritious items.

As always I like to make my recipes with variety and that means nothing is exact, especially a fruit bowl. This is just one variation so feel free to change things up or make it how you prefer. This is just a guideline. Add in peanut butter, chocolate, spinach, almonds, pecans, strawberries, raspberries… you name it, put it in. No matter what, you’ll end up full and you won’t regret eating it.

Prep Time: 5 min

Yield: 1 Serving

  • 1/2 Cup Non Fat Greek Yogurt
  • 1.5 tsp Acai Powder
  • 1 tsp Maca Powder
  • 1 tbsp of Water
  • 1/4 Cup of Frozen Blueberries
  • Couple Slices of Banana
  • Small Handful of Fresh Blueberries
  • 3 or 4 Blackberries
  • 1 tbsp Coconut Flakes
  • 1 tsp Wheat Germ
  • 1 tsp Ground Flax
  • 1 tbsp Walnuts
  • 2 tbsp Granola
  • A Drizzle of Honey

In a blender blend the Yogurt, Acai Powder, Maca Powder, Water, Frozen Blueberries, and Banana all together. Once it is fully blended it should be a bright purple. Place into a bowl. Now add the remaining ingredients all on top. And now you have yourself a delicious Acai bowl.

This may look like a lot of ingredients, but remember it’s really pick and choose how you’d like your own bowl. It’s packed with tons of nutrients and definitely a filling meal. It’ll make you feel good about yourself and it’ll have you craving another one tomorrow. Oh, and if you’re not sure where to get Acai or Maca from, it can be found at nearly every grocery store, generally in the health food aisle and even at Walmart. Enjoy!
